We can walk to the Van Gogh museum. (The actual pronunciation of Vincent’s surname seems to be possible only if you are Dutch). Some of our favorites include a wheat field with crows, some scenes from the asylum where he checked in, his house in Arles, and a view of two pear trees, plus some interesting self portraits.Van Gogh was incredibly prolific, considering his painting career was only about seven years long. But I got the feeling that this museum, although possessing many hundred paintings, lacked many of the real blockbusters, since those would have been the ones that actually sold during the painter’s lifetime. Still we really enjoyed the visit, despite the heat and the crowds.
